Certified Language Interpretation Now Available for Callers to Pensions and Benefits USA
Pensions and Benefits USA now offers certified language interpretation for phone callers with limited English skills, according to Don Walter, director. The recently inaugurated service allows ministers to have conversations with P&B representatives interpreted in real time in their fluent language. Additionally, all interpreters are certified for confidentiality, since financial matters may be the topic of discussion.
“With the growing diversity of languages being spoken by ministers in U.S. congregations, it’s important for us to be able to communicate our programs and provide assistance as efficiently as possible,” said Walter. “This service allows us to do this while giving callers the assurance that any information they share will be held in strictest confidence.”
To use the service, a caller must first request language assistance. Those who can verbally express the language they require may use the toll-free number 888-888-4656. Others should contact Pensions and Benefits USA via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The office will then notify the interpretation service and an appointment for a phone call will be set as soon as possible.
Interpreters are available in more than 200 languages. There is no cost to the caller.
“We encourage district superintendents to help us get the word about this valuable service to the pastors of their churches who may need language assistance,” Walter added.
